Malay wedding dates 2027 Singapore, the short answer: we laid every Saturday and Sunday of 2027 against the official MOM, MOE and MUIS calendars, and 54 of 104 weekend days fall in Ramadan, a public-holiday weekend or an MOE school break. That leaves 50 clear weekend days, 25 of them Saturdays.
MUIS's published calendar puts Ramadan 1448H from Monday 8 February to Tuesday 9 March 2027, with Hari Raya Puasa on Wednesday 10 March. February, March, June and December have no clear weekend at all.
Venues, caterers and the Kadi (who solemnises the marriage) all ask a Malay couple the same first question: which date? Below is every 2027 weekend with its clashes marked, the official source for each date, and a quick way to turn the list into a shortlist your family can agree on.
Key takeaways
- Ramadan 2027, Singapore: Mon 8 Feb to Tue 9 Mar (MUIS calendar). All eight weekend days in it are flagged.
- Syawal, the Raya visiting month, runs Wed 10 Mar to Thu 8 Apr. Only one Syawal weekend (3–4 Apr) is otherwise clear.
- Five three-day weekends: 1–3 Jan, 6–8 Feb, 26–28 Mar, 15–17 May and 7–9 Aug.
- The longest clear run is five weekends in a row, from Sat 16 Oct to Sun 14 Nov 2027.

When is Ramadan 2027 in Singapore, and how firm is the date?
Ramadan 2027 starts on Monday 8 February and ends on Tuesday 9 March in Singapore, according to the 2027 Islamic calendar MUIS has already published. Its Key Islamic dates 2027 sheet lists 1 Ramadan 1448H as 8 February 2027 (Monday) and 1 Syawal as 10 March 2027 (Wednesday). The Ministry of Manpower's 2027 public holiday list gives Hari Raya Puasa the same day, 10 March.
How firm is that? MUIS works the dates out in advance by calculation, but the formal word comes from the Mufti each month. As MuslimSG put it when explaining how Singapore sets the start of a Hijri month, "we would have to wait for Mufti's announcement to officially declare the date". Treat 8 February and 10 March as planning dates, and recheck any weekend close to either edge after the announcement.
Ramadan is flagged because of the hours. Roots, the National Heritage Board's site, notes that in Ramadan Muslims "refrain from consuming food or drinks from dawn to sunset". The walimah, or wedding feast, as the National Library's BiblioAsia describes it, "usually starts at 11 am and ends at 5 pm". A daytime walimah in Ramadan sits entirely inside fasting hours. (For the month itself, see Ramadan in Singapore: fasting, iftar and etiquette.)
What a family does with that is the family's call. This page describes the calendar, not religious rulings; for those, ask MUIS or your religious teacher.
Syawal, the month after Ramadan, runs from Wednesday 10 March to Thursday 8 April 2027 (MUIS lists 1 Zulkaedah on Friday 9 April). Roots records that "visiting relatives and friends takes place throughout Syawal". Those eight weekend days compete with Raya visits, so the table marks them. If you are planning an open house too, Hari Raya open house catering covers that side.
Which 2027 public holidays make long weekends?
MOM has gazetted 11 public holidays for 2027, and five of them make a three-day weekend. New Year's Day falls on Friday 1 January. Chinese New Year falls on Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 February, so Monday 8 February is a public holiday. Good Friday is 26 March. Hari Raya Haji is Monday 17 May. National Day is Monday 9 August.
Two more holidays land on a Saturday: Labour Day on 1 May and Christmas Day on 25 December. Three are mid-week and do not make a long weekend on their own: Hari Raya Puasa (Wed 10 Mar), Vesak Day (Thu 20 May) and Deepavali (Thu 28 Oct).
A long weekend cuts both ways: relatives coming from Malaysia or further get an extra day, while friends with travel plans may be overseas. We cannot tell which way it goes for your guest list, so the table only marks them.
The Hari Raya Haji weekend has one more layer. It closes the first ten days of Zulhijjah, the month of Haj, which MUIS dates from Saturday 8 May to Monday 17 May 2027. If someone in the family is going for Haj, the household may also be planning a walimatus safar before Haj, and two big gatherings in one month ask a lot of the same relatives.
When are the school holidays in 2027?
MOE's 2027 school calendar sets four vacations for MOE kindergartens, primary and secondary schools: Sat 13 Mar to Sun 21 Mar, Sat 29 May to Sun 27 Jun, Sat 4 Sep to Sun 12 Sep, and Sat 20 Nov to Fri 31 Dec.
It also creates a few school-only long weekends. Monday 3 May is a day off in lieu of Labour Day. Youth Day is Sunday 4 July, and the following Monday 5 July is a school holiday. Children's Day, Friday 8 October, is a holiday for primary schools only. Monday 27 December is a day off in lieu of Christmas, already inside the year-end break.
Again, a trade-off: in school holidays some families with children travel, while others have the whole day free to help.

Malay wedding dates 2027 Singapore: the weekend clash calendar
"Clash" means the weekend falls in Ramadan, a public-holiday weekend or an MOE school break. It does not mean the date is wrong, only that it needs a deliberate yes from your family. "Clear (Syawal)" and "Clear (Zulhijjah)" are clear of all three but sit in the Raya visiting month or the run-up to Hari Raya Haji.

Where are the clear weekends in 2027?
The 50 clear weekend days bunch into eight windows. Here is the count by month.
| Month | Weekend days | Clear |
|---|---|---|
| January | 10 | 8 |
| February | 8 | 0 |
| March | 8 | 0 |
| April | 8 | 8 |
| May | 10 | 4 |
| June | 8 | 0 |
| July | 9 | 7 |
| August | 9 | 7 |
| September | 8 | 4 |
| October | 10 | 8 |
| November | 8 | 4 |
| December | 8 | 0 |
Three things stand out. First, nothing is clear from 6 February to 28 March: Chinese New Year runs straight into Ramadan, which runs straight into the March school holidays and the Good Friday weekend. Second, April has eight clear weekend days, but 3–4 April is still Syawal. Third, the year's longest run is the five weekends from Sat 16 Oct to Sun 14 Nov, followed by four in a row in January (9–31 Jan) and four from Sat 10 Jul to Sun 1 Aug.
Our reading: if you want a Saturday that is clear of all three calendars and outside Syawal, look first at January, April from the 10th, mid-July, the second half of August, late September and mid-October to mid-November. Clear here means clear of the official calendars only. Your venue's diary, the Kadi's schedule and your own family's events still decide.
How early can you start the ROMM application for a 2027 date?
The Registry of Muslim Marriages sets two limits in its marriage process guide: the "earliest date to solemnise is 21 days after submission of application", and the "application will last 150 days from submission date". So for any date, the filing window opens 150 days before and closes 21 days before.
Here are four worked examples. They are our arithmetic from ROMM's two rules, so confirm them in the ROMM portal when you apply.
- Sat 9 Jan 2027: file between Wed 12 Aug and Sat 19 Dec 2026.
- Sat 10 Apr 2027: file between Wed 11 Nov 2026 and Sat 20 Mar 2027.
- Sat 10 Jul 2027: file between Wed 10 Feb and Sat 19 Jun 2027.
- Sat 16 Oct 2027: file between Wed 19 May and Sat 25 Sep 2027.
BiblioAsia notes that today the nikah, walimah and bersanding often take place on one day, which makes the ROMM date and the feast date a single decision for many couples. If yours are on different days, see feeding guests after the akad nikah. For the full sequence from merisik to bertandang, read the seven steps of a Malay wedding in Singapore.
A five-step way to pick your 2027 walimah date
- Start from the clear list. Pick three candidate weekends from the table, ideally in two different months.
- Ask the elders two questions. Does the family want the feast outside Ramadan? Does a Syawal date clash with Raya visits this family makes? Customs vary by family, so ask rather than assume.
- Check your guests' calendars. Children on school holiday, relatives going for Haj, friends likely to travel on a long weekend. Mark each candidate date.
- Check the ROMM window and the Kadi. Work out the 150-day and 21-day limits for each candidate, as above.
- Send every supplier the same three dates. Venue, caterer and photographer can then tell you which ones they can do, and you choose once.
For the caterer, a quote brief saves a round of messages. Copy this and fill it in:
- Date options: first, second and third choice
- Venue and access: void deck, hall, hotel or two venues on one day
- Expected guests, and when most will arrive
- Format: buffet, mini buffet, briyani packets or bento
- Dietary needs on either side of the family
The rest of the planning list, from wali to pelamin, is in the Malay Muslim wedding checklist.

Where Saffrons fits
Saffrons, which publishes this guide, is a MUIS-certified halal caterer. Its founder, Mdm Beevi, started out catering weddings before she opened the first Saffrons restaurant in Tampines in the mid-1990s. The kitchen is known for its Gold Class Briyani and caters from 30 to 3,000 guests; its buffet packages include delivery and set-up. You can check its halal certificates on the MUIS Halal Establishments register.
Saffrons does not publish a per-person rate, so a quote comes on WhatsApp. Share your date, venue and guest count on WhatsApp (+65 9144 7381), or look through the Saffrons wedding packages and the buffet and mini buffet formats first. For fewer than 30 guests, a restaurant table or briyani packets may suit better; ask on the same number. For the dishes themselves, see what goes on a Malay walimah menu.
Customs vary by family and region; this page describes common practice in Singapore and the published 2027 calendars, not religious rulings. For rulings, consult MUIS or your religious teacher. Dates are as published on 19 October 2026; Islamic months are confirmed by the Mufti's announcement. Menus and packages change: request a quote on WhatsApp +65 9144 7381 and verify MUIS certification status at booking.
Frequently asked questions
Is the Ramadan 2027 start date of 8 February confirmed?
It is the date in MUIS's published 2027 Islamic calendar, worked out in advance by calculation. The formal start of each Hijri month is still declared by the Mufti's announcement, so treat 8 February 2027 as the planning date. If your wedding is within a few days of the start or end of Ramadan, check again after the announcement before you confirm suppliers.
When is Hari Raya Puasa 2027 in Singapore?
Wednesday 10 March 2027. MOM lists it as a gazetted public holiday, and MUIS's calendar gives the same day as 1 Syawal 1448H. Because it falls mid-week, it does not create a long weekend by itself. The weekend after it, 13–14 March, is also the start of the March school holidays.
Which months in 2027 have the most clear weekends?
January, April and October each have eight clear weekend days. April's include 3–4 April, which is still in Syawal. The longest unbroken stretch is five clear weekends from Saturday 16 October to Sunday 14 November. February, March, June and December have none, because of Chinese New Year, Ramadan, the school holidays and the year-end break.
Can we still hold our walimah on a long weekend or in the school holidays?
Yes. A clash flag only means the date sits inside a holiday or Ramadan window, not that it is off limits. Some families like a long weekend because relatives can travel in; others lose guests to holidays abroad. Ask your family, check your guest list, and decide on purpose.
